   Home      Vocal Point trio

   VOCAL POINT are

ANGELA OWEN, SUE FARLEY and JOHN OWEN

Keeping it in the family, John is married to Angela and Sue is John's sister. They have been singing together as VOCAL POINT for the last 10 years or so and have been the resident band at the HUNGRY HORSE FOLK CLUB since its creation in 2005.

Sue was for many years the Musical Director of the Knowsley Singers and is organist at her church.  She
has a beautiful voice that complements John's very nicely with his tenor baritone 'noises'.

Angela has been beating the bodhran and other percussive instruments for
many a year and is the driving rhythm maker of this very talented trio.
Her claim to fame is that she was trained on bodhran (Irish drum) by
Stefan Hannigan and has performed with the likes of Dougie MacLean.
OK, well yes it was in his pub in Dunkeld during a session.

John is a former member of the folk trio 'Brass Tacks' and played for many
years at Parkgate Folk Club.    He was also a prominent figure on the musical
stage for the Wirral Theatre Company in the 80's and 90's.

John and Angela are also the Directors of the very successful annual
WIRRAL FOLK FESTIVAL that is now in its 11th year
details of which can be found at - www.wirralfolkonthecoast.com

John is also Secretary of the North West Federation of Folk Clubs and he
contributes greatly to the reading matter in the FOLK NORTH WEST
quarterly magazine.   A very good read indeed for all folk music fans.

VOCAL POINT can regularly be seen fronting the professional acts at
the club's monthly concert nights.
